Modern cosmetology offers many products for skin cleansing. The most popular means is a scrub. Due to the fine abrasives included in the composition, you can quickly and gently remove dead epidermis cells. Thus, the skin structure is rejuvenated and renewed, getting rid of excess sebum, dirt, sweat, as well as stimulating the growth of new cells.
A body scrub is a painless and totally affordable option to make your skin smooth and glowing. A great way to cleanse and prepare the surface for maximum nutrient penetration.
Using a body scrub helps to:
- even out the texture of the skin;
- cleanse the skin of pathogens;
- remove dead and horny particles;
- accelerate oxygen metabolism;
- start the regeneration process;
- improve blood microcirculation;
- properly prepare the skin for further cosmetic manipulations and salon procedures.
How to use a body scrub
It is more convenient to remove cosmetics with a spatula (disposable wooden or reusable). However, if you don’t have one, you can use your hands, having washed them with soap and water beforehand.
The product should be applied to well-cleaned and slightly steamed skin. For this reason, it is best to combine the procedure with a shower, having previously soaped and washed off the remains of the gel. After that, you can dosage the scrubbing mass on small areas of the body with simultaneous massage with circular movements. This method favours maximum surface coverage without the possibility of missing any areas of skin.
The basic rules on how to apply a body scrub include:
- It is important to treat problem areas with special care.
- Skin with ingrown hairs can be rubbed more intensively.
- Maximum pressure in the area of the buttocks helps to fight the “orange crust”.
- Massage the inner part of the thighs should be extremely carefully and gently.
- In case of solidification of the mass, you can add water or shower gel to the skin.
After application, the body scrub should be well washed off. It is better to complete the procedure with cool water to ensure that the pores are closed. If the cosmetics were soap-based, after finishing it is worth treating the areas with moisturising cream.
How often to use a body scrub?
Once convinced of the effectiveness of the procedure, there is a desire to use the product during every shower. However, uncontrolled use can harm the skin. So, not having time to fully recover between procedures, the surface risks becoming too dry. Loss of moisture, thin skin – this can be a signal of premature loss of tone and elasticity. In addition, the frequency of application is directly related to skin type.
- For people with normal skin, you can use a body scrub 1-2 times a week.
- For dry and sensitive skin, it is recommended to perform the procedure no more than once every 10-14 days.
Choosing the right scrub
The range of scrubbing products is large, which is due to the uniqueness of the composition and its main function. This is a cosmetic of directed action, used to solve specific problems. For example, why do you need a body scrub with an anti-cellulite effect, many people know. And not everyone has heard about the abrasive-free composition. Such a product does not have fine particles. Their role in this case is fulfilled by fruit acids. This is the most delicate option, designed for interaction with sensitive and very thin skin.
- Gel-based cosmetics perfectly tones the skin and normalises the activity of sebaceous glands. It is suitable for normal, combination or oily skin.
- Cream composition is designed for intensive moisturising and nourishing. This option is better to choose the owners of dry skin type.
- Scrub with oils – the first help for the epidermis suffering from dehydration. Suitable for rough and weathered areas. Excellent toner, so it is recommended for dry and fading skin.
- Dry remedy, consisting of abrasives, involves additional connection with the base: cream, gel, oil. It is designed for interaction with rough and oily skin.
Body scrub: why do you need precautions?
As with other cosmetic products, there are a number of restrictions for the cleaning procedure. So, scrub should not be used during rashes. In the process of exfoliation, there is a risk of spreading infection throughout the body, which can subsequently lead to a more intense rash. You should refrain from the procedure in case of dermatitis, acne and inflammatory processes. In addition, for people with visible capillary networks and very dry skin, the product should be selected by an experienced beautician.
