Frequently asked questions

Sugaring is an innovative and natural method of unwanted hair removal that is capturing the hearts of many women, men, and teenagers worldwide. In this post, we will tell you about what sugaring is, how it works, and why it is becoming an increasingly popular choice for effective hair removal, especially thanks to the Ukrainian company Serica Silk.

Sugaring is a method of unwanted hair removal that utilizes a natural sugar paste or gel to pull hair out from the roots. This method is also sometimes referred to as sugar waxing. The sugaring procedure involves applying the sugar paste to the skin and then swiftly removing it in the direction of hair growth.

The benefits of sugaring include the fact that the sugar paste consists of natural ingredients, making it gentle on the skin and less irritating compared to some other hair removal methods. Sugaring can also be less painful than waxing and helps reduce the occurrence of ingrown hairs.

Sugaring is becoming a popular choice for those seeking a more natural and less aggressive hair removal method, and it can be performed both at beauty salons and at home using specialized kits.

Here is the procedure for sugaring:
Preparation: Before the procedure, the skin should be clean and dry. It’s important that the hair has sufficient length, typically around 4-5 mm, for the sugar paste to adhere to it.

Warming the sugar paste: The sugar paste is heated to room temperature or slightly above. This is done to make the sugar soft and easily adhere to the skin.

Application of the paste: The warm sugar paste is applied to the skin against the direction of hair growth.
Removal: The sugar paste is quickly removed in the direction of hair growth using sharp movements. During this process, the paste adheres to the hair and pulls it out from the roots.

Repetition: The process of application and removal is repeated on different areas of the skin until all unwanted hair has been removed.
Finishing: After completing the procedure, the skin can be treated with a special post-depilatory care product to reduce irritation and prevent ingrown hairs.

Sugaring effectively removes hair from the roots, and the results can last from several weeks to several months before the next session, depending on individual hair growth characteristics. This method can also contribute to reducing hair density and thickness with regular use.

The duration of the effect after sugaring can vary depending on individual hair growth characteristics and skincare practices. On average, the results of sugaring can last anywhere from several weeks to several months. It’s important to consider the following factors:

Hair type: Fine hair may regrow more quickly compared to coarser hair, meaning that some individuals may experience longer-lasting results from sugaring.

Frequency of procedures: The more regularly you undergo sugaring, the shorter the time you’ll have to wait until your next session. Regular hair removal can reduce hair density and thickness over time.

Skincare: After sugaring, it’s important to take care of your skin using gentle post-depilatory care products. This can help prevent irritation and ingrown hairs, which can extend the effectiveness of the procedure.
Hormonal factors: Hormone levels can influence hair growth. Some individuals may experience faster hair regrowth due to hormonal changes.

In the end, the exact duration of the effect of sugaring will vary for each person. Many people find that the results of this procedure are longer-lasting and less irritating to the skin compared to other hair removal methods such as shaving or waxing.

The difference between sugaring and waxing lies in the method and the composition of the materials used for hair removal:
Composition:

Sugaring: Sugaring uses a natural sugar paste, typically consisting of sugar, water, and lemon juice. This composition is more natural and gentle on the skin.

Waxing: Waxing involves a special wax that may contain synthetic ingredients and resins.

Application and Removal:
Sugaring: Sugar paste is applied to the skin against the direction of hair growth and then removed in the direction of hair growth. This method is less aggressive and can be less painful.

Waxing: Wax is applied to the skin in the direction of hair growth and then removed against the direction of hair growth. This can be more painful and may cause irritation.

Temperature:
Sugaring: The sugar paste is heated to body temperature or slightly above, making the procedure more comfortable.
Waxing: Wax is heated to a higher temperature, which can be less comfortable for the skin and may lead to burns if applied improperly.

Aftercare Ingredients:
Sugaring: After sugaring, gentle post-depilatory care products with natural ingredients are typically used for skin care.
Waxing: After waxing, specialized aftercare products are also used, but they may contain various formulations.

Both methods can be effective for hair removal, and the choice between them depends on individual preferences and skin sensitivity.

The manual sugaring technique is suitable for almost any part of the body. With its help you can remove hair on your legs, arms, bikini area, abdomen, armpits and even on your face.

Sugaring is a procedure that has many advantages, including:
Effective removal of excess hair. Sugaring allows you not to think about excess hair for a long period of time and enjoy perfect and smooth skin for several weeks.

Cumulative effect. The more you do this procedure, the longer the intervals between sessions will become. Each time there will be less and less unpleasant sensations, the hair will become small, it will be thin and will completely lose pigment.
Safety. The main criterion why sugaring is chosen among all possible types of hair removal is safety. Firstly, the composition heats up from body temperature, so it is literally impossible to get burned by it. All components in the paste are natural and hypoallergenic, and the risk of allergies is reduced to 0.

The frequency of procedures does not depend on skin type, but depends on the rate of hair growth, which is different for everyone. The rate of hair growth, in particular, is influenced by hormonal levels. On average, the procedure is carried out once every 3-4 weeks.

at the first sugaring session, it is advisable to have hairs 5-7 mm long, but if you have signed up for sugar depilation not for the first time, then the length of the hairs can be 4-5 mm. Avoid active sun, do not use a solarium. Reduce your exposure to the sun, do not sunbathe during this period.

Prepare your skin. Exfoliate a couple of days before the procedure to remove dead skin cells. This will help the paste to capture hair more effectively and reduce the risk of ingrown hairs after the procedure. Choose products with natural composition that will gently scrub your skin, get rid of dead cells, and give the skin smoothness and elasticity. Do not use creams with a thick texture. On the day of the procedure, do not apply cream or other cosmetics to the sugaring area.

Cleanse your skin. On the day of sugaring, wash your skin with a mild cleanser to remove dirt and sweat.

full legs – 45 minutes; armpits – 10 minutes; full hands – 20 minutes; full face – 15 minutes.

In the first 1 – day
Avoid additional irritation.
Depilated area: Thick, synthetic, my clothes, aggressive pimples, peelings and scrubs, deodorants, alcohol, oily cosmetics, bathhouse, sauna, physical activity, sex, solarium, beach.

area where hair is removed: “hot” areas (face, armpits, bikini) – thick paste; “cold” zones (arms, legs) – soft pastes. 2) hair structure: the stronger and stronger the hair, the denser the paste is chosen. 3) season: in summer it is more advisable to use denser pastes, in winter – soft ones.

Sugaring of the face for women has practically no contraindications. The paste contains natural substances that are not allergens. The only thing cosmetologists warn about is the need to postpone going to the salon if there are cuts, abrasions, or irritations on the skin.
